Better than I remember from decades ago. The sandwiches have generous portions, the barbecue is tender and flavorful. I've eaten there at least once a week since I rediscovered it was open. And I usually try to take someone with me. Or buy extra to give someone. If you like good barbecue, you owe it to yourself to try this place.

Pulled or Minced. Take your pick! I personally prefer the minced, which is seasoned enough to not having to add additional sauce. The pulled, (wife’s fav), is also delicious with a little squirt of the Allman’s BBQ Sauce. Not sure anyone wouldn’t love this outstanding pit-cooked Q. Friendly family service. We are a regular there, so hope to see you in line for takeout!!!

My grandson and I went there for lunch a few weeks ago. I had the sliced brisket with coleslaw and he had the pulled pork. The food was delicious! Very friendly place and very busy at lunch. I highly recommend it.

I've never had more delicious BBQ, Brisket, Potato Salad, Baked Beans, or dessert in my ENTIRE life. Our youngest son is quite picky and he was raving over the food, as well! The brisket...OH MY WORD. Do yourself a favor and get it, even if you're not a typical brisket fan. It is to die for!!!

I understand there is some confusion about the BBQ sauce and Cole slaw recipes at Allman’s BBQ in Chester. These recipes are from the original Allman’s BBQ on Jeff Davis Hwy. They are very different from King’s BBQ in Colonial Heights and Petersburg. Although the owners are all relatives. So when you come to eat at Allmans and then leave a bad disparaging review saying it’s nothing like King’s BBQ that you expected then maybe you are confused Susan Jordan. I would never walk into a Pizza Hut and expect the pizza to taste like Papa Johns. I also would never leave a review showing my ignorance and trashing a new business. Please talk to the owners of Kings BBQ and tell them you would love for them to reopen. Personally I prefer Allmans BBQ.

Glad Allman's BBQ has reopened at a new location, although hours are short. Food is just as good as it always was. Hope more people will visit them soon. They are in Chester in the same area as Wild Rose Cafe. They are open only on Thursday, Friday & Saturday.
